Desktop/Client Server Engineer

Position Description:

Support the Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Office of the Chief Technology Officer in the delivery of IT services to support the mission of the CTO. Leverage industry best practices to support ongoing and emerging initiatives and maintain a reliable and secure IT network. Position responsible for supporting successful delivery of contract support services including:
  • Improve IT customer service and incident resolution
  • Achieve Service Level Agreements
  • Provide 24x7x365 Tier 2 and 3 call center support
  • Maintain the operational network
  • Provide procurement and asset management support
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
Education and Certifications
  • Must have Bachelor’s in Computer Science or similar degree
  • Must have Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Certification
  • Must have Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II Baseline Certification in accordance with DoDD 8140.01 “Cyberspace Workforce Management”
  • Must have ITIL V3 Foundation Certification
Knowledge and Experience
  • Must have 5 or more years of relevant experience as a Senior Desktop/Client Server Engineer
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Customer focused and service excellence driven
  • Flexible/adaptable to a fast pace environment
  • Experience working with Remedy and Solarwinds
  • Experience providing Data Network Services support, which includes life-cycle management (e.g., requirements, engineering, design, implementation, testing)
  • Must have risk management and issue resolution experience
  • Ability to prepare periodic (monthly/quarterly) performance reports based upon metrics
  • Experience tracking and maintaining standards and procedures
  • Experience managing support with Remote Devices and Software.
  • Experience provisioning, security, administration and troubleshooting and proactive service management (e.g., Availability and Capacity Management, Performance, Incident and Problem Management) of the DS environment, including Wide area network (WAN), Wired and wireless local area networks (LANs), Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Network Security.
  • Experience providing incident management, problem management services, configuration management, change management, release management, and account management.
  • Experience providing Cross Functional Services support with IT Lifecycle and Operations Management Functions
  • Attend work regularly to ensure all job duties are timely performed
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time by management
